Dental Implants

REGAIN STRONG, LIFELIKE TEETH WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS

Today, there are several effective options out there for patients who are struggling with the loss of one or more natural teeth. Here in Chattanooga Dental Arts, though, we believe there’s one that stands out above the rest – dental implants. Implants are virtually seamless in feel, function, and appearance when compared to your natural teeth, and they can also be used to anchor dentures and bridges in place for a healthier and more confident fit. If you’d like to learn more about this transformative procedure or schedule your first appointment, please don’t hesitate to give our Chattanooga Dental Arts a call!

Dental Implant Placement

The secret behind the success of dental implants is simple – unlike other services, implants recreate both the root and the crown of your natural tooth instead of only the latter. With a new tooth root in place, your jawbone is stabilized and preserved, and patients are much less likely to experience deterioration over time. After our team has determined that you’re a good candidate for dental implants, the first step of the procedure involves their surgical placement within the jaw. Drs. Jancy Parkerson-McGovern and Daniel McGovern provide this service in-house and will ensure that this portion of your care is as comfortable and successful as possible.

Once the implant is in place, a process known as osseointegration begins. This means that your natural tissue will gradually start to grow around the implant and create a strong bond with it. This sets the stage for the placement of a new, custom-made restoration once you’ve healed enough to return to our office.

You will invest in your smile when choosing a dental implant  because it can last forever. Although dental implants are the more reliable solution to treat tooth loss, it is normal to have several questions about the procedure before committing to the treatment. We take the time to explain the process during your consultation. In the meantime, we have the answers to your top questions about the procedure to ensure you make the best choice for your smile.

The number of dental implant posts you need varies depending on the restoration used to rebuild your smile. A single tooth replacement only requires 1 implant post; whereas, treating several missing teeth in a row needs an implant post at either end of the bridge. If you need full mouth reconstruction, an average of 4 to 8 implant posts are used to secure your denture to your jawbone.

Dental Implant Restoration

Our doctors offer multiple implant restorations, and our recommendation will depend on the number of teeth/implants that require coverage, as well as the patient’s personal needs and preferences. For instance, all-ceramic dental crowns are designed to cover individual implants so that surrounding natural teeth can remain healthy and unaltered. For multiple implants, an implant-retained denture/bridge may be ideal, which can replicate several teeth at once for a more cost-effective solution. No matter what the patient’s final choice is, their new restoration will be an excellent match for the tooth/teeth they lost.

With your new dental implant(s) in place, it’s likely that your diet, your speech, and even your self-confidence will improve as a result. We look forward to helping you regain the complete and beautiful smile you deserve!

The long-term success of your new smile relies on a healthy foundation. As a result, you cannot get dental implants if you have an active infection, but that does not mean you cannot get them later on. You will first need periodontal therapy to stop the infection. Depending on the extent of the damage caused by the bacteria, you may need additional procedures before placing your implant posts, such as bone grafting or tooth extractions.

Dental implants are the most successful solution to treat tooth loss. In fact, they have the potential to last for a lifetime if you care for them properly. Generally, the risk of implant failure is less than 5%. You can help to ensure your new smile lasts by maintaining your oral hygiene at home and visiting your dentist in Chattanooga regularly for a cleaning and checkup.

Initially, dental implants are more expensive upfront than other treatments, but they are more affordable long-term. They can last forever, so you never need to worry about paying to have them replaced. They can also lower your overall dental expenses. Since the posts stimulate your jawbone, any remaining teeth will have the support they need to stay in place. Stopping dental drift decreases your risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and additional tooth loss to prevent the need for costly treatments.

Most dental insurances will not cover the entire cost of the treatment, but your specific policy may pay for portions of the procedures until you reach your annual allowance. We work on your behalf with the insurance carrier to reduce the amount you need to pay. We accept a variety of payment options to cover any remaining balance, including third-party financing with CareCredit. We will help to find the solution you need to keep your new smile affordable.

What patients say about us

Here's some kind words from a few of our happy patients.

B

It was my first time here, and I was blew away by the staff, these are the nicest people ever, I had a warm welcome upon entering and the hospitality did not stop. What a great staff. If you need a dentist I highly recommend you to give this business a try. My hygienist was the best, and I felt really comfortable with her. I had went to a dentist up the road first and I wasn’t treated the same upon my entry to their establishment so I remembered talking to a ladie that worked at this dental office sometime back, I drove down the street until I saw this office and I’m so glad I did. Thanks for a great dental experience.
